The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) issued a warning of heavy rains that are likely to pound several parts of the country between October 31st and November 6th.
On Tuesday, the department listed various counties, revealing that the listed areas will also experience storms. During the next seven days, some areas will experience rainfall of up to 120mm
According to Kenya Met, some of the counties that are set to experience heavy rainfalls that could cause flooding in the regions include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Embu, Nyeri, and Kiambu. Others are Nyandarua, Laikipia, Murang’a, Meru, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Kwale, and Mombasa.
Kenya Met said the listed counties would begin experiencing heavy downpours from Tuesday that would stretch over to Monday. As a result, residents in the said counties have been advised to be on the lookout for potential floods.
Nairobi will also receive average rainfall of about 20-50mm over the next week. Turkana, Narok, Nakuru, and Kajiado counties will receive a rainfall of between 10-20mm.

The weatherman said that the rains will intensify from Tuesday over the Northeastern and central parts of the country and are expected to spread to several parts of the Northeastern, the Central Highlands, and South Coast. The rain will be accompanied by gusty winds, adding that flood waters may appear in places where it has not rained heavily especially downstream.
Kenyans have been advised to avoid driving through, or walking in moving water or even on open fields to avoid being carried away by the floods. They should also avoid sheltering under trees and near grilled windows when it rains to minimize exposure to lightning strikes.
