Kenyan Governors Are Stealing And Stocking Billions Of Cash In Their Houses

Kenya has 47 Governors who head 47 counties, and all of them are thieves. During the week, the Governor of Kiambu County, Kimani Wamatangi, was found with at least 12 million shillings in cash in his house. To him, that was just some “pocket change lying around.”
This is the Governor who, at one point, was accused by investors of Tatu City that he demanded a bribe of a whopping 4.3 billion shillings. He was also accused of demanding for a house and at least 40 acres of land. How much is enough for one Governor?
Surprisingly, his fellow politicians were “surprised” that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) would arrest him for that “petty cash.” Senator for Kakamega, Dr. Bonny Khalwale, was “genuinely surprised.” That was such a “small amount of money.”

Assuming every Governor and their spouses, forget about their concubines and kids (most of them are stealing through their kids, but let us leave them out for now), are holding at least 30 million shillings in cash, that is a whopping 1.4 billion shillings.
This 1.4 billion shillings is stored in their houses. This means, the cash is not in circulation. Given that they do their shopping outside the country, the cash is completely eliminated from circulated within the Kenyan borders. And we wonder why we have no cash in circulation.
Kenya has money. It is only that the cash is in the hands of a few corrupt individuals and their cronies. The spirit of devolution has long lost its meaning. What remains are the headquarters of squandering our taxes. You only need to look at the Auditor General’s reports to scream.
Every politician in Kenya is a thief, but the Governors are overdoing it. They have appointed themselves as the undisputed small gods of impunity who cannot be touched by the seemingly short arm of the Kenyan law. They do not care about the common man.
Nairobi County is on autopilot. Billions are looted daily, and Nairobi’s residents watch helplessly. The looting in Machakos County can only be written in history books. In Mombasa, residents are screaming that the Governor is busy using their taxes to construct massive personal properties. Bungoma County is hell itself with no major functioning hospital. (Bungoma is a special case because they have a strange love for mediocre and thieves.)
