Bolt Food and Quickmart Join Forces to Bring More Than 12,000 Products to Kenyan Doorsteps

Bolt Food has announced its entry into on-demand retail through a strategic partnership with Quickmart Supermarkets, giving customers access to over 12,000 supermarket products delivered directly to their doorsteps. Launching across 60+ Quickmart stores, the partnership marks a major expansion of Bolt Food’s offering beyond restaurants, as it accelerates its evolution into a multi-category platform for everyday convenience.
This expansion signifies a major step in Bolt Food’s strategy to evolve beyond restaurant delivery and tap into Kenya’s fast-growing on-demand retail market. Customers can now use the Bolt Food app to order everything from fresh groceries and wellness products to household goods and beverages, all delivered to their doorstep in minutes.
Ali Zaryab, Bolt Food General Manager, Kenya and Ghana said: “This partnership is a significant step in how we are evolving Bolt Food, from a food delivery service to a platform that supports everyday needs. By collaborating with trusted brands such as Quickmart, we’re making it easier for customers to shop conveniently, and for our partners to reach more households through digital channels. We’re also creating additional earning opportunities for our courier community. Our goal is to be Kenya’s most trusted and convenient delivery platform, connecting customers to the brands they love while driving digital growth for businesses across the country. By bringing retail into our ecosystem, we are making it easier for customers to access what they need, when they need it, while strengthening our role in shaping the future of digital commerce in Kenya.”
By entering the high-frequency grocery category, Bolt Food is unlocking more everyday use cases for its platform, driving greater convenience for customers while deepening engagement and frequency. For Quickmart, the partnership provides a scalable digital channel to reach more customers and meet growing demand for convenience-led shopping experiences.
Betty Wamaitha, Quickmart’s Chief Marketing Officer said: “As Quickmart celebrates 20 years of serving Kenyan households, this partnership with Bolt Food is a powerful step in delivering on our promise of convenience. By enabling customers to access Quickmart’s wide range of quality goods and services through on-demand delivery, we are making everyday shopping easier, faster, and more accessible. With close to 70 stores nationwide, we look forward to our shoppers enjoying this added convenience, wherever they are. At Quickmart, we remain committed to being always fresh & easy, and this collaboration ensures that our customers experience that promise in even more ways.”
This partnership comes at a time when Kenya’s digital economy continues to expand rapidly. According to the recent Bolt-Ipsos Gig Economy Report, the sector supports approximately 1.5 million workers and contributes over KES 100 billion annually to the economy. The report further found that 53% of gig workers rely on platform-based work as their primary source of income, while 98% report an improvement in their standard of living, demonstrating the transformative impact of digital platforms on livelihoods across the country.
This launch marks the start of Bolt Food’s wider retail expansion, with plans to grow the category further and bring on additional partners, reinforcing its position as a leading platform for everyday convenience. The company will also continue to invest in technology, local partnerships, and operational efficiency to deepen its role in Kenya’s evolving digital commerce ecosystem.
