KUCCPS Updates Students On Delayed Transfer Letters Ahead Of September Admission

Students still waiting for their university and college transfer letters have been given an update by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service, KUCCPS, which says the letters are still being processed and will be issued once the exercise is complete.

Responding to one affected student, KUCCPS said the transfer letters were being generated automatically and would appear on the student portal as soon as they were ready. “The processing of the transfer letters is ongoing.

The letter will be generated automatically for download by the applicant through the student portal as soon as it is ready,” the agency said.

In the meantime, students have been told to keep checking their portals to see whether their transfer requests went through, since that’s where the letters will land once they’re out. From there, applicants can download their letters and wait to report to their new institutions on the set reporting day.

The update comes as anxiety builds among students over how long the letters are taking, especially with admissions at several universities only days away. A number of students have taken to raising the issue publicly, which appears to have pushed KUCCPS to respond.

The frustration follows the close of the inter-university transfer window, which ran until August 14. That window had given students who weren’t happy with their initial placements a chance to apply for their preferred institutions instead.

But with reporting dates now closing in, the wait for confirmation has left many unsure of where they stand.

The University of Nairobi, for one, has already set August 24 as its reporting date for newly placed students.

Other institutions are expected to begin admissions in the final week of August and into the first week of September, based on the Ministry of Education’s calendar, leaving affected students with a narrowing window to get clarity before they’re due to report.
