A family in Kajiado has been thrown into shock and mourning after five of their members died in a tragic Monday, November 25, 2019, morning road accident.

The five members who died in the morning Kajiado road accident at Ngatataek area were traveling in a Matatu when flash floods swept away the vehicle.

The accident has come at a time when the Kenya Meteorological Department (MET) continues to warn Kenyans to brace for heavy rainfall that will result in flash floods in most areas of the Country.

MET has warned that most parts of the Country will experience rainfall up to 30mm which is likely to have dire consequences.

Western, South Eastern, Northwestern, Northeastern and central regions including Nairobi are some of the regions expected to be hard hit by the heavy rains.

Kenyans are advised to stay safe and avoid areas that are prone to floods especially during rainy seasons.

MET has on numerous occasions warned Kenyans from driving or walking through flooded areas such as open fields to avoid being swept away.

Kenyans are also advised not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows to minimize exposure to lightning strikes.

Already 52 people have died following a landslide in West Pokot after they were buried alive. According to the area chief, Mr. Joel Bulal, many more people are still missing and hopes of finding them alive are minimal even as rescue operations continue.

Condolences continue to stream as West Pokot remains too shocked to mourn.
