By pushing for the boycott of major brands, Raila Odinga is giving the Kenya Kwanza Government reasons to pin their failures on him. They will say the man is not giving them time to deliver on their promises. Now that the demos will be every Monday and Thursday, only time will tell what will happen.
For a man who aspires, been aspiring to be the President of the Republic of Kenya, calling for the boycott of major brands in the country, when he knows how important such brands are to the economy, it is so unpresidential and negates his push for a better Kenya.
Azimio leader Raila Odinga called on his supporters to boycott among others; Safaricom PLC, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), and Radio Africa Group, specifically The Star Newspaper for “being in bed with the current regime and subverting the will of the people.”
The call by Raila Odinga came a day after he led a nationwide demonstration against the government that rocked Kisumu and Nairobi, paralyzing businesses and stopping the movement of the people from one place to another on Monday 20.
This is not the first time Raila Odinga is calling on his supporters to boycott brands after an election. During the previous general elections, he called on his supporters to boycott Safaricom, Brookside, and other companies that he said were supporting the regime, then of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
I think where Baba fails is his calls on the brands to boycott. As a person who aspires to a President one day, these calls are unfortunate and no Presidential material should do that. Brands are apolitical even if they appear not to. I don’t know how boycotting Safaricom will…

While pushing for a demonstration, Raila Odinga told the country that he was pushing for the government to lower the cost of living. He said he had the interests of the people at heart. I do not know how the boycott of Safaricom will lower the price of Unga for the common mwananchi.
Raila Odinga, to avoid coming out as a man pushing for his own personal agenda of “his election” having been “stolen”, would have stuck with the issue of the skyrocketing cost of living, the ethnicity in appointing state officers, and the appointment of the ridiculous number of CASs.
Raila Odinga calls on his supporters to boycott Safaricom, KCB Group and Radio Africa Group (The Star Newspaper). What is your take on this?
