Kenyans To Pay More For Birth, Death Certificates: Here Are The New Charges

Kenyans will have to pay more to acquire birth and death certificates after the government Increases fees.

Then Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki gazetted the new fees, in a special Kenya Gazette supplement issued a month before his ascent to the office of Deputy President, which included an upward revision of the registration of birth certificates from 50 shillings to 200 shillings

According to the notice, late registrations for birth and death certificates will also require Kenyans to pay up to 500 shillings for the service, an increase of 350 shillings from the previous 150 shillings.

Additionally, In case of the loss of either document, The government will charge Kenyans 1,000 shillings, up from the current 90 shillings.

Kenyans living abroad will be required to pay 19,000 shillings which is (USD15O) at the current exchange rates for the same service.

Authenticating the seal of the Principal Registrar will now cost Kenyans 500 shillings, with the same service costing $100 (Ksh.12,950) when provided by a foreign mission in Kenya

For the registration of birth or death Kenyans in the diaspora will pay 1,000 shillings that will occur outside Kenyan borders.
