Isuzu EA Delivers Nine New UD Luxury Buses to Nyamira Express valued at Ksh 150 Million

Isuzu East Africa, has delivered nine premium UD luxury buses to Nyamira Express, a bus company affiliated with Guardian Coaches. This marks a major milestone for long-distance passenger transport in the country, as the fleet expansion connects the coastal business gateways to Western Kenya markets.
These are also the first UD CKE bus models sold by Isuzu East Africa to enter the public transport market in Kenya. Valued at KShs150 million, this investment by Nyamira Express signals a strong vote of confidence in UD’s engineering excellence, durability and fuel-efficient long-distance transport solutions.
This handover reflects continued market demand for powerful and reliable passenger buses capable of handling Kenya’s toughest transit corridors. Nyamira Express will deploy these new buses on the Mombasa–Busia passenger route, reinforcing seamless regional connectivity between coastal and western Kenya transport hubs.
Commenting on this development, Rita Kavashe, Isuzu East Africa Chair of the Board and Managing Director, expressed the company’s commitment to partnership-driven growth. “Today’s delivery to Nyamira Express marks an important milestone for long-distance passenger mobility in Kenya. These are the first UD CKE buses entering Kenya’s passenger public transport sector under Isuzu East Africa. We are truly honored to walk this journey with Nyamira Express, as we hand over these nine premium UD buses.’’
Speaking during the event, UD Trucks General Manager, David Were reaffirmed the company’s commitment to partnership-driven growth. “UD Trucks is ready to go the extra mile with operators across Kenya. We are proud to power the journeys of Nyamira Express with fuel-efficient performance, unmatched safety, and durable engineering designed for Kenya’s roads.”
On his part, Julius Mokaya, Director at Guardian Coaches, sister company to Nyamira Express, expressed gratitude for the immense support received from Isuzu East Africa and various partners in a business journey spanning nearly 20years.
“The acquisition of the 9 UD Buses will further expand our fleet and continue to provide comfortable long distance travel experiences for our passengers.”
Built for endurance and comfort, the newly acquired 49-seater UD CKE luxury buses come with enhanced performance features including a 350HP engine delivering 1200Nm of torque, enabling strong pull power across steep elevation changes and long haul cycles.
The buses are also equipped with ABS braking technology, a suspended driver seat, rear tag axle air suspension and parabolic front suspension, all engineered to deliver superior passenger ride quality, driver comfort and stability across diverse terrain.
The official handover ceremony was the highlight of a UD Customer Appreciation Event in Mombasa hosted by Isuzu East Africa, where bus operators from across the coastal region had the opportunity to engage with the buses firsthand, explore product features, learn about aftersales support systems and interact with UD technical teams.
